UV STERILIZER JOVA UV1 maintenance

To reach maximum output of this unit it is important to do the regular cleaning procedure. The interval between cleaning is depending of the water quality, normally about four times a year, but if the intensity is becoming weak it might depend on a coating on quartz-jackets and UV-sensor sight-port which can be removed by cleaning.

The regular cleaning procedure takes about 40 minutes and the unit has to be closed while cleaning, why the occasion of cleaning should be chosen with that knowledge.

If the regular cleaning frequency is too low, the coating may be hard to remove with this normal cleaning procedure, why the quartz-jackets has to be dismounted and cleaned by hand.

Regular cleaning procedure for UV-chamber

To obtain maximum disinfection it is important to do this regular cleaning procedure.

1. Close inlet and outlet valves. Let the UV-lamps be in operation.

2. Open the drain valves and drain out a bucket (5-10 litres).

3. Fill a bucket with hot water, the same amount that was drained out, and mix it with citric acid (for UV1 0.2 kg).

4. Fill the chamber with the solution through the upper drain valve. Use a funnel.

5. Let the solution work for about 30 minutes.

6. Drain out the cleaning solution.

7. Slowly open the valve for water inlet and let freshwater flush trough the chamber for a while.

8. Close the lower drain valve and let the chamber get filled.

9. Close upper drain valve.

10. Open inlet and outlet valves.

The UV-unit is ready for normal use.

Advanced cleaning procedure (manual cleaning)

Once and a while, or when the regular cleaning procedure is not enough, do this complete and more advanced cleaning procedure.

1. Close inlet and outlet valves.

2. Turn the power off.

3. Open drain valves and drain the chamber completely.

4. Disconnect the lamps and unscrew them.

5. Dismount the quartz-jackets.

6. Clean them with a soft cloth and industrial alcohol.

7. Remount the quartz-jackets.

8. Disconnect the UV-sensor and dismount it.

9. Dismount the UV-sensor quartz-glass.

10. Clean it with a soft cloth and industrial alcohol.

11. Remount the UV-sensor quartz-glass and gaskets.

12. Close lower drain valve and open inlet valve slowly till the chamber is full. Then close upper drain valve and pressurise the chamber. Check for leakage.

13. Remount UV-lamps and connect them.

14. Remount UV-sensor and connect it.

15. Open inlet and outlet valves.

16. Turn the power on.

The UV-unit is ready for normal use.

Service of the UV-sensor sight port

To give the UV-sensor sight port full service do the following procedure.

1. Close inlet and outlet valves.

2. Turn the power off.

3. Drain the chamber completely.

4. Disconnect the UV-sensor and dismount it.

5. Dismount the UV-sensor quartz-glass.

6. Clean it with a soft cloth and industrial alcohol.

7. Check gaskets and replace them if necessary.

8. Remount the UV-sensor quartz-glass and gaskets.

9. Close lower drain valve and open inlet valve slowly till the chamber is full. Then close upper drain valve and pressurise the chamber. Check for leakage.

10. Remount UV-sensor and connect it.

11. Open inlet and outlet valves.

12. Turn the power on.

The UV-unit is ready for normal use.

Replacement of UV-lamps

It is very important to change all lamps each 8000 hour, as the lifetime is limited. Do follow the computers recommendations. It will tell you when to change the lamps. It also gives you a warning 700 hours before so you can check if you have enough spare lamps.

Change all lamps at the same time to avoid unnecessary breakdowns.

To change the lamps do as follows:

1. Turn the power off.

2. Disconnect lamp number one (fast-coupling).

3. Unscrew it.

4. Wipe of the new lamp with a soft cloth and industrial alcohol.

5. Screw the new lamp in and connect it. Do not touch it with bare hands after cleaning it. Repeat this procedure for the rest of the lamps, in order of number to avoid mixing of new and old lamps.

6. Reset hour-meter by entering the menu, using the arrow-buttons on the cabinet, and chose “Reset hour-meter” and then press “YES”. This will reset the hour-meter but the total time of use will be left.

7. Make sure to order new lamps to avoid stoppage.

Replacement of quartz-jackets and O-rings

If a quartz-jacket breaks the unit is unusable. Therefore it is very' important to have at least one for spare.

The О-rings are patient for UV-light but they need to be changed some time.

Service procedure:

1. Close inlet and outlet valves.

2. Open drain valves and empty the chamber.

3. Disconnect and unscrew the lamps.

4. Unscrew the quartz-jacket.

5. Put a new О-ring on the new quartz-jacket.

6. Wipe the new jacket off with a soft cloth and industrial alcohol. Do not touch it with bare hands after cleaning it.

7. Mount it in the chamber and tighten it by hand.

8. Pressurise the chamber with water and check for leakage.

HANSUN UV Sterilizer UIV-1.3 maintenance

The UV-Sterilizer should be carried out periodic maintenance, so that the unit is kept in regular condition.

Please take care, the inlet and outlet valve must be position in close during cleaning procedure. Power must be shut down. And be careful of dismounting, since lamp, quartz tube and glass window is easy for crack, and damage hands.

Replacing of UV-lamps

The UV-lamp is to be replaced in period, every 8000 hours or the UV intensity is to be dropped to certain level that activating alarm. Please change UV-lamp and keep UV-sterilizer running in good condition.

Please follow up to change UV-lamp.

1. Power off the unit.

2. Disconnected UV-lamps and pull it out carefully.

3. Replace UV-lamps.

4. Reset hour-meter on controller.

5. Make sure unit running in good order.

Cleaning and replacing of quartz tube

Quartz tube is to be carried out periodic maintenance, otherwise when the UV-sterilizer running for long time, there is some dirties stained on the surface of quartz tune, this will cause UV intensity reduced, and slow down the sterilizing capacity.

1. Close inlet and outlet valves

2. Power-off the unit

3. Open vent and drain valves

4. Dismantle UV-lamp in carefully, and then take quartz tube out

5. Clean them with a soft cloth and industrial alcohol

6. Mount quartz tube and then mount UV-lamps and connect them

7. Close drain valve and open vent, slowly open inlet valve till venting of water on top, then close vent and open inlet and outlet valve completely

8. Check no leakage, then power on the unit

9. Check the displaying on controller screen, if no alarm. The unit is ready for use

Cleaning and replacing of glass window

UV sensor glass window is to be carried out periodic cleaning, otherwise it will cause drop-down of detecting accuracy.

Please follow up the cleaning procedure of sight glass.

1. Close inlet and outlet valves

2. Turn off power supply

3. Open vent and drain valve, empty the vessel

4. Unplug the UV sensor, and dismantle UV sensor and glass window

5. Clean it with soft rag carefully

6. Mount UV sensor and glass window again

7. Close drain and keep vent open, then open inlet valve slowly till vent overflow, then close vent valve

8. Open inlet and outlet valves completely, check no leakage

9. Power on the system

10. Check the displaying on controller screen, if no alarm.
