The standby pump will start automatically if the running pump does not maintain the required water supply pressure or fails and stops. For automatic replacement of a malfunctioning pump, select AUTO CHANGE in the appropriate starter panel on the main control panel for a pump that is not currently running. Standby mode has been successfully assigned to the selected pump and will be displayed and acknowledged when the standby indicator on the main control panel on the pump control panel lights up.
NOTE: When the pumps are set to AUTO CHANGE, the standby pump will start automatically if the pump is running or the system pressure is too low. However, if a running pump is stopped after receiving a command (or inadvertently) from any start / stop position, the standby pump will not start because the control system will recognize the pump shutdown as a function of the human command and not a system failure. This does not require that the running pump be operated in MANUAL mode.

NOTE: Inscriptions may be used on the control panels to indicate the operation of the equipment in standby mode at the names of switches, button selections or tell-tales Standby, ST-BY, Auto Change).
In the fresh water cooling system, the water level in the expansion tank (s) may be automatically maintained by supplying water from the fresh water supply system via a float valve (if fitted). These tanks (tank) can be equipped with a low water alarm.
