The automatic control of the modules of the exhaust gas cleaning device shall be performed according to a predetermined sequence of their operation. Depending on the selected operating mode, e.g. wake-up, start, stop, emergency stop, open or closed mode.
During EGC operation, the automatic control system monitors the default-controlled parameters and alerts the operator and in some cases performs emergency braking. The EGC device should also be equipped with a means to automatically record at a frequency of at least 0.0035 Hz during operation, the minimum data to be recorded:

  • SO2 (ppm) and CO2 (%) emission data;
  • Wash water pressure and flow at the EGC inlet connection;
  • the exhaust gas pressure in front of the EGC unit and the pressure drop across the EGC unit;
  • the combustion equipment load and the exhaust gas temperature before and after the EGC.
The recording and processing device shall record data indicating the UTC time and the position of the vessel in the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).
