The main engine and auxiliary engines are designed to burn HFO most of the time. However, operational circumstances may necessitate the changeover HFO to DO, for example if:

✔  repairs are required for fuel systems or related systems.

Fuel switching can be performed at any time, regardless of whether the engine is running or turned off at that time. Careful adherence to fuel change procedures is essential to prevent high pressure fuel equipment from structuring or deteriorating fuel combustion in the cylinders and contaminating the gas ducts.
