Main Class Notation (for DNV 1A)

Main class notation is assigned to ships with hull, machinery, systems and equipment found in compliance with applicable rule requirements as given in DNV rule parts Pt.2 (Materials and welding), Pt.3 (Hull) and Pt.4 (Systems and components). In case of class entry, the main class notation 1A will also be assigned for vessels designed and constructed in accordance with the rules of another classification society. The construction symbol tells that the vessel is built under supervision of DNV. Construction symbol with a dot above means that the vessel is a class entry vessel built under supervision of a classification society recognized by DNV.
