Main class notation is assigned to ships with
hull, machinery, systems and equipment found in compliance with applicable rule
requirements as given in DNV rule parts Pt.2 (Materials and welding), Pt.3
(Hull) and Pt.4 (Systems and components). In case of class entry, the main
class notation 1A will also be assigned for vessels designed and constructed in
accordance with the rules of another classification society. The construction
symbol ✠ tells that the vessel is built under supervision of DNV. Construction
symbol with a dot above means that the vessel is a class entry vessel built
under supervision of a classification society recognized by DNV.
