The combination of the various elements constitutes the machine, the system, and the integrated systems, respectively. Although some machineries seem to work stand-alone but actually they are integrated somehow to a system in order to complete the whole process. The combination of the various elements constitutes the machine, the system, and the integrated systems, respectively. Economic, continuous, safe, secure and environmentally friendly operation of ship machinery and systems will be ensured if the working parameters of each element are effectively observed, analyzed, interpreted by the shift engineer and necessary measures are taken in a timely manner according to the developments. Therefore, in Ship Engine Room Simulators algorithms, related to the relations between the elements, machines and systems, need to be determined and designed correctly. On the other hand, Marine Engineer in charge of engine room watchkeeping, should know how to send the right command signals by means of right command elements. OOW should be absolutely sure that sent command is applied correctly by the actuators. For this reason, Engine Room Simulators should be designed in such a way that the officer of the watch can manage the system and machine operations easily. The data, relevant to the systems and machines operating, are sent to the monitors by means of sensors and control signals for OOW observations. Successful system and machine operations depends on how accurately the OOW uses and applies automatic control principles. In order to achieve this, ERS designed with the right algorithm, hardware and software is essential. It is only possible for the Marine Engineers responsible for the watch to be able to manage the Engine Room Resources effectively, if they have a good command of the shift personnel, machinery and systems. Engine Room Simulators, aimed for Ship Engine Room Resource Management training, should be designed to allow the Watch Engineers to observe, analyze and interpret every possible information quickly and accurately. Considering the historical data and analysis, a welldesigned Engine Room Simulator should have the ability to guide the decision of the Engineer in charge of the Shift to correct the deviations that may occur in the status and/or operating parameters of the Machinery and Systems.
