Ice
Ice conditions vary according to winds and temperature. The outmost buoys are normally removed for winter. Very often ice moves or is stacked between Ensten and Norra Gloppsten.
Ice movement may cause buoys and spar buoys to be pressed under ice (surface). Normally during wintertime there is from 20 to 40 cm thick fast ice between Vaskiluoto and Ensten.
Port of Vaasa average minimum ice class IB and 2000 tons deadweight required of assisted vessels.
AURORA BOTNIA can sail most of the time without any ice breaker assistance, only due to wind conditions, moving ice may cause dangerous situations which are taken care well in advance.

Energy efficiency is followed closely. Cargo operations are planned so that most efficient trim conditions are found. Ballast water can be shifted to find the optimum trim. Bottom of the ship is cleaned by divers during open water season.
