• Portable fire extinguishers must be placed in special containers from which they can be removed quickly, in a place protected from direct sunlight and atmospheric precipitation, at a height of 1.5 m from the deck and not closer than 1.5 m from the heat source.
  • The temperature in the rooms in which the carbon dioxide extinguishers are stored shall not exceed 55° C and in the case of powder fire extinguishers 35° C. Foam and other liquid-filled fire extinguishers must not be stored below 0° C.
  • During the external inspection of the fire extinguishers, check:
    • foam extinguishers - whether the spray diaphragms and fuses are intact, whether the nozzle covers are clean and undamaged, whether there are seals and nameplates with the date of filling the extinguisher and the spikes for emergency cleaning of the sprinklers;
    • Carbon and powder fire extinguishers - or seals, handles, membrane fuses, diffusers and protective covers for metal parts, storage brackets.

NOTE: Due to the characteristic smell of ether the fire extinguishers must be replaced, as this means that the filler has leaked due to a fault in the fire extinguisher tap, handle, or sprayer. It is also necessary to replace the fire extinguishers if cracks, scratches, and dents in the housing are noticed.
