Preparation and operation of water fire protection systems
Completion requirements
- Pumps and piping for the water extinguishing system must not be used for pumping oil products or draining the ship's compartment.
- The system must be checked once a week.
- Fire hydrant valves must always be closed.
- When the water extinguishing system is operating in a sub-zero temperature environment, it is necessary to briefly open all the fire hydrants in the system branches and make sure that there is no water left in the system.
- Fire hydrants must be protected against damage during operation of the vessel. Access to taps must be free. Cabinets, barriers, or partitions where they are placed must have clearly visible signs.
- Fire hoses with connected syringes must be stored in separate cabinets.
