Usually in the control panel of the engine room drainage pump and the oil-contaminated water separator, automatic operation can be assigned to this unit with the help of switches. In this case, the drain pump in the engine room will be started and stopped by a float switch in the bilge water collection well. The oil contaminated water separator operating in automatic mode will start the high water float switch in the hold water storage tank and the brake separator, the low disease float switch in this tank.
The oil-contaminated water separator also has an automatic drain stop. Designed to automatically stop any discharge of an oil-contaminated water mixture overboard when the oil content of the effluent exceeds 15 ppm.
The oil-contaminated water separator operates automatically and will operate as long as there is water in the bilge water storage tanks. However, although the separator may operate automatically, it should only be used under close supervision under normal conditions.
