Operation
Bilge water pumps and system valves may be operated manually and automatically from local or remote control panels in the machinery space of central control or fire safety.
Example of local control panels for drainage pumps
The pump control panels are equipped with
signal lights or illuminated buttons to confirm the confirmation of the
selected function. The panels can be fitted with stop buttons with a pump start
blocking function or automatic devices that protect the electric motors of the
pumps and at the same time allow blocking the start of the unit by
disconnecting the power supply. The panel may also have a switch that allows
the pump to be set to automatic mode.
The oil-contaminated water separator is
usually controlled by a local control panel mounted on the separator unit
itself together with the oil-polluted water separator (OCD) monitoring device.
NOTE: OCD device controlled oil pollution, can be
adjusted from 1 ppm to a maximum value of 15ppm, but cannot be set higher than
the maximum value of 15ppm.
