Exploitation
Overboard water pumping from bottom Kingston will normally be used at sea (where it is deep enough) or when there is contamination of the water surface, such as seaweed or crushed ice, and the like. Bottom kingstons are also used when the ship is unladen and with minimal ballast when air is likely to enter the kingboards. Pumping overboard water from the onboard Kingston should be used at shallow depths or on a muddy bottom.
During operation of the vessel, the overboard water supply valves of the Kingston boxes shall be open.
The Kingston filter marine antifouling system (MGPS) copper anode and aluminum cathode must always operate while the filter is in use. It is important to supply the anode and cathode with adequate electrical current to achieve the desired effect based on the volume of water flowing through the overboard water system. And then the correct current is checked daily.
