In order to save energy in air conditioning, Marine Engineers should have good knowledge and experience of psychometry, setting and operating values, information feedback and characteristics of system components. System operations, consist of preperation, starting and commissioning stages. Since all the works in the air conditioning process develop in a logical sequence, it is the responsibility of the Marine Engineer to manage the entire process, including the monitoring phase.

The preparation phase covers the basic works that must be completed before operating the air conditioning system. After the preparations are completed, the system components are operated by means of the control elements on the control panel. Operating values will be monitored electronically or manually and recorded in the engine room log.
