Monitoring, analyzing, defining, decision making, corrective actions
Monitoring of the operating values as well as condition is essential for a fault-free operation of the A/C system. Engineer in charge of the watch is responsible to set and monitor the operating values. For this purpose, control sensors, installation locations and values need to be arranged on the systems. Monitoring is not just looking at indicators, but it means to follow and understand whether the functioning parameters are within the determined limits. For this reason, a well-designed Engine Room Simulator should have indicators and monitors, like light, sound, analog and digital, that display the data regarding with the values and states of all machines and systems connected to the automation system. Effective monitoring of the operational data will result in system efficiency increase, less energy consumption, longer machinery life and less maintenance cost. Therefore, Marine Engineers must have enough knowledge and experience how to make effective monitoring using the right indicators.
Monitoring means observation of all kind of information indicated by either analog or digital gauges, lamps and speakers. Marine Engineer in charge of the watch is responsible to observe all operating values, make analysis and define the situation in case of deviations from the set values or from operating limits. After making decision on the problem then, decides what to do to correct the malfunction
