Renewal survey is carried our every five years and correspond to the expiry date of classification certificate (one classification period is five years). The renewal survey can be started up to 15 months before the due date and needs to be completed within three months before the due date. For vessels built to DNV class the construction inspection during newbuilding period is counted as the first renewal inspection. The second renewal inspection starts the second classification period and is carried out when the vessel turns five years old.
